Gimmie
I founded Gimmie as both a product and a design thesis: that AI-powered recommendation can feel genuinely personal rather than algorithmically cold. I built Gimmie in collaboration with a former Google software engineer and own the product end to end in vision, UX content design, marketing, AI behavior standards, onboarding conversation design, and the working iOS prototype.
Gimmie is a lifestyle and taste discovery platform where AI learns your preferences through a structured onboarding conversation, then surfaces restaurants, experiences, and products that match your evolving taste profile, instead of what's trending.
My objective was to build an app that does not feel like a search engine. Gimmie should feel like a friend who knows the user's taste better than they do by earning that trust slowly and deliberately, through the quality of every recommendation it makes. Thus, the model powers both the personalization engine and the recommendation layer, and every behavioral decision it makes traces back to our content standards.
Bridging Product UX with Campaign Narrative Systems
I approached growth as an extension of product design by using narrative, behavior, and cultural framing to guide users from onboarding. The onboarding flow is designed as a structured preference conversation. I designed each screen with intent, combining framing, tone, information architecture, and behavioral logic to build a taste graph the model can act on. I defined how the model handles conflicting signals, cold-start users with no preference history, and hard exclusions versus soft dislikes in order to minimize algorithm guesswork. From there, I developed lifecycle content strategy concepts spanning activation, habit formation, and re-engagement, including email sequences, in-app messaging, and campaign-style storytelling designed to reinforce “intentional consumption” as a core brand value.
I wrote early editorial and campaign narratives that functioned as both product education and brand positioning. Pieces like “On Taste & Intention” framed modern consumption as identity-building, while “How Gimmie Works in 60 Seconds” translated product mechanics into intuitive user behavior. “Why This Matters” extended the product into a longer-term narrative around taste formation and self-definition, supporting retention through meaning alongside utility.
Alongside lifecycle messaging, I developed concept for creator-led distribution. This included positioning Gimmie as a “living taste archive” that creators (writers, influencers, and niche tastemakers) could use to share curated identities through formats like lists, collections, and “Top 3s.” I explored partnership directions with micro-communities across food, travel, design, and wellness, treating content as a product surface to maintain a brand voice centered on intentionality, taste, and identity.
